Frequently Asked Questions:

The Mid-Atlantic Ice Dance College has been asked many different questions regarding its program and we strive to give you as much information as possible so that you can make an informed decision. If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to let us know how we can address your concerns.

What is the difference between participating in your program and doing individual lessons?
Our program is designed to provide you a cost effective alternative to the “pay as you go”, “a la carte” programs.  Participating in our group program not only provides your child with a positive learning experience, but also allows the participants to work together under the direction of the coach, therefore building a strong team atmosphere.

What is included in the cost of the program?
From the time your child arrives they will be instructed by one of our knowledgeable coaches in a group format, you will not be asked to pay an additional fee for the ice time.  They will receive 15 group instructed classes on and off the ice.

What are the benefits in doing this program?
When you participate in our program, you will save on average $457 per week. Our program provides your child an opportunity to learn in a group format for only $8.33 per class, with the individual ice fee included in the cost.  If you were participating in a “pay as you go” or “a la carte” program, you could expect to see your weekly skating cost averaging out to be an estimated $582 for individualized instruction.

Does my child have to attend every day or can we chose to attend once or twice a week?
We understand that every child has an active summer schedule, that's why we offer monthly, weekly, and daily rates so that you can choose the right schedule for your needs.

How do I know that my child's skating needs will be addressed?
For those individuals who participate throughout the summer, we will be providing you with an individualized assessment paper that will be filled out each month.  These individualized assessments provide you with the information that you need to assess your child’s progress in our program.

Are there before and after care services available?
While our program does not offer before or after care, we will be happy to help you arrange these services outside of our program.

How do I know this is the right type of program for my child?
Every child learns differently, that is why we strive to get every child an opportunity to work with all of our coaches. We provide an opportunity for each child to go at their own pace allowing them to achieve their skating goals.

If my child participates in the Mid-Atlantic Ice Dance College program, will they only be taught how to Ice Dance?
No, while we are a Dance College, we believe that every child should learn the basics of Figure Skating. That is why we offer Stroking, Dance, Jumps, Spin, and Moves in the Field classes.  If your child does not want to excel in one area, we can offer another to fit their desires.

Does my child need their own skates?
We encourage all participants to have their own skates. If you don’t have any, please let us know and we will help you find some.
